Risk Assessment Method Statements

Every business should be aware of what Risk Assessments are, but what are Risk Assessment Method Statements, RAMS for short and how do they differ from risk assessments.

Risk Assessments

Risk assessments identify hazards within the workplace activity. The hazards are investigated to see what risks they pose to the health of the workforce and steps are enforced to mitigate or eliminate the risks for that hazard.

Risk Assessments Method Statements

RAMS are documents created by businesses documenting the risk assessment. They contain the details of the hazard and a step-by-step safe working instructions that workers and contractors can use.

RAMS are mostly used in the construction industry as they are often included as a requirement in the tender process. RAMS help in the preparation of safety documentation and help assess the health and safety policies of companies who submit tenders.
